The fishing for stripers or trout remains rewarding here along the Colorado river. Below the Davis Dam we have rainbow trout that are brought to us form the federal hatchery. These fish are stocked from October till the end of March and this is usually because of our warmer weather which could and can heat up the trucks that bring in the fish. This week we got our fish on Wednesday the stocking schedule is usually on Tuesday but not carved in stone so to say. We are still getting some quality trout till about the end of this month. The stocking site for the trout are community park and Davis camp. Our local angler Gary Regan was fishing in the upper casino area using his favorite lure to land these two stripers. He had just put his boat in the water for the first time this season and was doing some fishing . Gary usually fishes for trout so this is a great catch for him his largest striper so far. The smaller on a nice size at 3.72 pounds and 22 and 7/8 inches while the larger stripped bass was 16.58 pounds and 37 and 3/4 inches. the good news is both lures and anchovies are producing fish here along the Colorado river. Gary also helps our local youth with the high school fishing club.

The fishing up on Lake Mohave is still a bit slow even the large and small mouth bass are not being very cooperative. I have noticed that the large mouth are on and guarding their beds. The carp are stirring up the water as they also in spawn mode. This makes the Topock Marsh area a muddy mess as the carp cloudy up the water with their spawning activity. I have been hearing of a few pan fish going after night crawlers and some of the crappie jigs in a white or green color.

Hope this helps some for now and we look forward to seeing you in to share that catch and your story. thanks for your support
