The Colorado River is yielding some impressive stripers below the Davis Dam. Local angler Richard Erdmann recently reeled in a sizable 16.96-pound striper, measuring 35 and 3/4 inches. He was fishing from the shore just downstream from Harrah's Casino on the Arizona side, using a lure in the rainbow trout pattern.

In our waters, it's observed that the rainbow trout or white pattern tends to be most effective. While other lures and colors can also be successful, these particular colors seem to have an added appeal. Reports suggest that Community Park is experiencing action for rainbow trout, with Rotary Park being a notable stocking site.

Updates from Lake Mohave are limited due to winds keeping most anglers at bay. However, with improving weather conditions, there are indications of fish activity in the basin area. Keep an eye out for birds or water ripples, as there might be stripers in that vicinity.

Trout enthusiasts, take note that we're receiving rainbow trout from the Willow Beach Hatchery once a week. They're being planted in three different locations – Community Park, Rotary Park, and Davis Camp. For those targeting trout, night crawlers or power bait are recommended, while spinners and various trout jigs offer a fun and productive experience, often resulting in limits of rainbow trout. Remember, the trout limit below the Davis Dam is a 5-bag limit.
