22.06-pound striper

The Colorado River below Davis Dam is producing some nice fish right now. Most of the action has been with smaller stripers, which tend to get to the bait first. But there are still some big ones out there!

Local angler Tanner Picard, along with fishing buddies Bubba Beach and JJ Elizondo, were kayak fishing above Community Park when Tanner hooked a beautiful 22.06-pound striper measuring 39 ¼ inches. He was using a trout-pattern swimbait and said the fish gave him quite a ride, towing him around the water.

Reports from near the dam say a few fish are being caught there as well. Shoreline spots from Rotary Park down to the Nature Center have been great for tossing a line. Anglers using 6-inch lures have had success landing some of the larger stripers.

On Lake Mohave, trolling has been working well for stripers in the 4–9-pound range, while anglers using anchovies are seeing good results with fish mostly in the 2–4-pound range.

Fishing Clinic Update – “Fish with a First Responder”
Plans are coming together for the event! We’re finalizing which booths will be on site, the Ladies of the Moose are planning a bake sale, and the staff will be cooking on the barbecue. The launch ramp will be blocked on Saturday, and we may even have a helicopter visit.

Thanks for all your support! I’ll have more details soon on early registration and flyers.

Now go catch a fish!
