14.48 lb. Striped Bass

Here along the shores of the Colorado River below Davis Dam, the striper bite has been a mixed bag when it comes to size. Most of the action has been from smaller stripers getting to the bait first.
Angler Patrick Paoli and his dog Eagle landed a beautiful striper weighing 14.48 pounds and measuring 34½ inches. Patrick was fishing from shore in the Big Bend area on the Nevada side, using his favorite lure.
Reports from Community Park show it’s still producing stripers, while Rotary Park has been giving up both stripers and rainbow trout. Now that we’re into October, trout stocking will continue through March from the Willow Beach Hatchery. The crew there does a great job raising these fish for our local anglers to enjoy.
Remember, the limit below Davis Dam is five trout and ten stripers, with no size limit on stripers.
A big thanks to everyone who came out for our recent fishing clinic—we saw lots of smiles as the kids reeled in their catches!
That’s it for now. Hope this helps you get out there and catch a few. We look forward to seeing you soon and hearing about your latest catch!
Now go catch a fish!
